"The Switch" - Part 5

“Long time no see.”

“Try the mirror this morning.”

Charlie rolled her eyes. “And I’ve never heard that one before.”

“Lip looks like its healing okay.”

She shrugged. “Nothing you haven’t given me before.”

“My eye was way worse that last time.”

“Cry about it.”

Quinn took a deep breath before letting the dreaded words come. The words she’d been preparing for the last two days to say.

“You like Rachel.”

“Do you love her?”

“I don’t know.”

“Will I have to fight you for her?”

“And who do you think would win?”

Quinn was silent.

“No,” Charlie said sadly. “No fight. You won a long time ago. It’s my fault I didn’t see in time. Maybe I would have had a chance back then. No point now. Congrats, sis. Should have been the fight of a lifetime and I let it slip through my fingers.”

She walked away. Quinn knew she should be relieved, but she wasn’t. All she could think about was how much she didn’t feel like she’d won.
