Quinn arrived a little earlier in Glee than usual and took a seat next to her sister.
“So, I just heard Finn’s out with mono. He’ll be gone for a few weeks.”
“Imagine that…” Charlie replied disinterestedly, not bothering to look at her.
“Wonder who gave it to him?” Quinn pressed knowingly. “He’s not exactly a hit with the girls.”
“Beats me.” She shrugged.
That reminded her - she owed Santana dinner for two at Breadstix. It was astounding what that girl would do for unlimited breadsticks…
“And earlier this week he got suspended from the team for not passing the random drug screen. Sam’s quarterback now.”
“Good! Maybe we’ll actually win a game every now and then.”
Quinn leaned in closer so no one could overhear them. “Don’t you think this is just a tad overkill?”
“I’m certain I have no idea what you’re referring to, Quinn.”
“Right. So his truck being turned over in the parking lot twice just happened of its own accord?
“Tsk,” Charlie clucked her tongue sympathetically. “Poor guy. Can’t seem to catch a break.”
“Just karma, you think?”
She shook her head, smiling. “How did you even…”
“Quinn!” she gasped. “I am shocked and appalled that you could even think I might have had something to do with dear Finn’s recent bout of bad fortune! However, if I were involved somehow, which of course I’m not…”
“Of course,” she replied amusedly.
“Then I would perhaps say that you’re not the only one with influence, dear sister.”
“And people actually believe you’re the nicer one…”
“We can keep it that way,” Charlie replied. “I like surprising them.”
“With your cruelty?”
“With my brilliance.”
“Twice, his truck was turned over. Twice!”
Charlie giggled. “You know, I happened to watch a Keanu Reeves movie over the weekend with Puckerman and I think they did something like that in there too. Talk about coincidences.”
“It’s downright uncanny,” Quinn rolled her eyes and then added more seriously, “He was kicked off the team, Charlie.”
“Suspended,” she corrected. “They’ll let him back on eventually, but by then Sam will prove himself the better athlete. They’re better off, really.”
“Guess I can’t argue with that.”
“Why would you want to?”
Quinn looked at her for a long minute before taking a deep breath. “Char…I-I know we had our issues when we were younger, we never really seemed to do right by each other, but what you’ve…what you…thank you.”
For giving Finn what he deserved when I couldn’t. For not going after Rachel.
For letting me be happy.
Charlie sighed, hearing everything her sister couldn’t say aloud, and simply squeezed her thigh in response.
Then their eyes fell on Rachel who had just walked in, grinning ear to ear.
“I found the perfect solo for me to perform at Sectionals!”
“Dios, dame fuerza.” Santana muttered from the other side of the room. “I should have run the midget over when I had the chance…”
